Care

Weekly respite care for those with memory loss such as dementia or Alzheimer’s

The Gathering is a daytime, out-of-home group respite program for caregivers and care receivers. There are many benefits to group respite, especially at The Gathering.

Held on the 1st-4th Thursdays of every month, The Gathering is a safe, enjoyable place for seniors living with long-term illnesses to socialize. (All participants must have a needs assessment by the Family Caregiver Connection Coordinator before participating.) The Gathering gives caregivers the opportunity to have several hours of respite while offering members of Anoka County faith communities the opportunity to share in the care of our community’s seniors. This opportunity is offered in collaboration with Anoka County Family Caregiver Connection and dedicated and trained volunteers, supervised by a social worker or nurse, operate the program. Participants can enjoy fellowship, lunch, and activities. Caregivers can enjoy time away from caregiving or attend a support group for caregivers on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month. Caregivers can attend support group meetings whether their loved ones participate in The Gathering. If you are interested in respite care, please contact Jill Agyekum at 763-324-1608 to complete an assessment before participating in The Gathering.
