From the Hands of Justice, Hearts of Mercy Ministry…

“And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8

Our community has these engaging volunteer opportunities available:

  • Mississippi Elementary in Coon Rapids is piloting a new program called “Connections.” This programming is designed to match caring adult volunteers with students who need emotional support, a friend to practice social skills with, or an additional trusted adult in their lives, much like Big Brothers Big Sisters Program. Volunteers would meet with their student through the end of the school year for 20-30 minutes weekly to chat, play games, color, or read. Volunteers are required to meet with the Volunteer Coordinator, Jackie Cimenski to go through a short in-person training.  Please reach out to her at 763-506-3537 or jackie.cimenski@ahschools.us for more information. Research shows that healthy and positive relationships at school can increase a student’s likelihood of engaging positively and participating actively at school.
  • United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids offers “Free Food Fridays”, offering a wide variety of food for anyone in the community from 4-6 p.m. each Friday. More volunteers can be used for this program. If you are interested in volunteering, please call Tammy Gallagher at 320-406-7824 for more information.
